The Key To A Healthier Life

The stresses and strains of everyday life just have a way of catching up to a person and the signals that the body sends out when something is wrong are numerous. Aches and pains, low energy levels and dulled mental functions are only some of the signs that signify the necessity of undergoing a body detox.

Most health experts agree that a body detox is called for at least once every year, and it is an absolutely essential part of keeping your body healthy and functioning in optimal condition. One of the best times to do this is after the holiday season, when you have normally binged on all that food and drink and have possibly piled on a lot of pounds in the process. Besides it’s a great way to get in shape for the spring and summer!

It is a harsh realization to face up to but you have accept the fact that the body tends to build up an alarming amount of toxins from eating and even simply from living. The buildup of these toxins has been linked to a host of health conditions–some of them potentially very serious–and body detox is one of the best ways to prevent these toxins from wreaking havoc on the delicate balance of your systems.

Along with a body detox, you may also want to look into changing your eating habits and possibly even going on a sensible diet. This combined approach is far more effective than dieting alone, and will go a long way in giving you back the energy that you so sorely need to get through the day as well as giving your overall health a much needed boost.

There are numerous body detox methods that have passed the muster of scientific experts, many of them geared towards changing your diet as well as your lifestyle. Among all these methods, it is important to choose one that is ideally suited to your preferences and lifestyle, as this will have a lot to do with how well you can stick to the plan. And of course, a body detox that you find suited to your preferences will ensure a greater likelihood of success.

A good way to start a body detox program is by reducing your consumption of foods that are known toxin carriers such as coffee, alcohol, fried and fatty foods, refined sugar, and processed foods. Of course it goes without saying that cigarettes should also be avoided. You should also be wary of certain fruits and vegetable, which although healthy, may contain an inordinate amount of toxins in the form of pesticides.

By keeping these tips in mind, you will have made the first steps into a body detox program that you will definitely benefit from.

How to Prevent Colon Cancer

Colon cancer is caused by a polyp in the colon. However, not all polyps found in the colon are cancerous. This is a good thing but this does not mean that they will not develop into cancerous cells some time in the future. Because they are sensitive to carcinogens, it is wise to steer clear of food that are carcinogenic.

You should avoid processed food since the chemicals used in making them have a longer shelf life are not good for you. You should also be aware of certain food preparations, such as cooking in open fire, that can generate carcinogens. You should know that eating a lot of broiled and fried food can increase your risk of contracting colon cancer. You should also avoid food with artificial coloring and sweeteners.

The things that you can eat should not have gone through a whole process to reach your plate. Stick to nuts and fruits for snacks. They contain no preservatives, compared to biscuits or chips. You should also only organically-grown fruits and vegetables. These have less likely been cultivated with the use of pesticides. Around 20% of pesticides are carcinogens and we can never be sure what large vegetable and fruit farms use.

Aside from a proper diet, you should also consider having a positive lifestyle. Exercise more. Be kinder and happier. Remember that your will to live can help keep colon cancer (and other forms of cancer) at bay.

Colon Cancer Treatments

Colon cancer is a terrible disease. It is one of the top causes of cancer-related deaths in the country today. But not all colon cancer cases are will lead to death. Colon cancer has treatments that work really well, depending on the stage of the disease. The three main colon cancer treatments are surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Surgery or colectomy – Surgery for colon cancer involves removing the part of the colon that has the disease. The borders of the cancerous parts are also removed so that no cancer cells are left behind. Sometimes, lymph nodes are also removed for cancer testing. Once the part that has cancer has been removed, the remaining parts of the colon will be connected. But if this is not possible, the surgeon will perform a colostomy. This is when a hole is made in the abdomen for removal of waste.

Chemotherapy – Chemotherapy may be recommended after surgery so that cancer cells that may not have been removed through surgery will be destroyed. The drugs used in chemotherapy often cause vomiting, mouth sores, hair loss, diarrhea, and fatigue.

Radiation therapy – With the use of X-Rays and other energy sources, cancer cells are killed in radiation therapy. It is used to shrink the size of cancer cells. It is often administered after surgery or before an operation so that the tumors become easy to remove during surgery. Radiation therapy is often done together with chemotherapy.
